Durable ropes are necessary in various industries. Cotton and linen cords are not strong enough, so instead of them, it is better to use paracord for heavy loads. Nylon braided ropes have been known since World War II when they were used as parachute cords for US Army paratroopers. Due to their strength and durability, they have proven to be useful in many military, agricultural, and construction processes.

In the PROF1GROUP network of military goods stores, you can buy paracord of various classes for military and household tasks.

Areas of Application of Paracord

Paracord is widely used in sports, logistics, warehouse management, and construction in the following tasks:

  • as a compact supply of ropes on hiking trips, during military service;
  • as a towing rope for vehicles by intertwining several lengths of cord;
  • for lifting loads and securing them on trailers;
  • for attaching equipment, hammocks, tents, making nets.

Paracord is used as a safety line for small items. Military personnel and athletes attach their equipment to it, ensuring their safety in challenging survival conditions. However, for mountain rappelling, this cord is not suitable. Instead, it can be used to make stretchers for transporting the injured, secure rafts for river rafting, anchor tents, and camping gear on location.

Paracord is in demand for weaving bracelets, popular among military personnel and nonconformists. When necessary, they can be quickly unraveled, providing an additional length of strong rope for bandaging in case of injury. Paracord is also used for lanyards - loops around the wrist for securing cold weapons, especially folding knives, in hand.

The core of the rope can be extracted, providing a strong thread for repairing clothing, ammunition, or as fishing gear.

Paracord knots do not slip, allowing them to be used to form fastenings for cargo during transportation.

Types of Paracord

Depending on the strength and type of braiding, 6 types of paracord are distinguished:

  • I - tensile strength is 43 kgf, used in decoration;
  • IA - tensile strength is 45 kgf, no core, convenient for making jewelry, belts, decoration;
  • II - tensile strength is 181 kgf, suitable for securing loads;
  • IIA - tensile strength is 102 kgf, no core, used for household purposes;
  • III - tensile strength is 249 kgf, useful in military affairs, camping gear;
  • IV - tensile strength is 340 kgf, used for towing vehicles, securing equipment.

The most common is type III paracord, designed for a 250 kg breaking load. It is easy to find for sale, and its range of applications covers all possible household tasks. Type IV cord is used in construction and warehouse management. Coreless varieties are softer and more flexible than reinforced ones. They are mainly used for decorative purposes.

Features of Paracord

Paracord is made from nylon, known for its elasticity and strength. The material is resistant to ultraviolet light, partly due to dyeing - dyes contain filters that reduce the penetration of UV rays. The cord can retain its operational properties for a long time under changing humidity, air temperature, and sunlight exposure. Additionally, military paracord is resistant to various chemical substances, oils, and gasoline. Unlike natural fibers, nylon retains its original quality for a longer time.
